Kim started her design firm from her vintage Saarinen dining room table. She soon expanded her design company to a skylight duplex in union square. Her passion for gardening and everything below fourteenth street soon sent her off to a SOHO studio. Kim is all about the visceral experiences of life and how to translate them into design concepts for interiors. Traveling is essential in creating her design aesthetic. Trips to India, Burma, Bali, and Thailand have developed her Asian sensibility to design. Kim lived in two floors of a seven tatami house in Tokyo. Her fascination with the architecture, calligraphy and ikebana of Japan consumed her completely. The time spent in Japan has articulated her use of space and created the cornerstone of her love for everything Japanese. Her design office is an efficient and exuberant place. It is always filled with young design interns eager to learn all the intricacies of design. Her trusted confidant Pitunia approves all projects with her paw seal, following a biscuit.
